Adobe Premiere Pro has its own uninstaller

  1. Quit the app completely (⌘+Q in the menu bar).
  2. Uninstall it from the Creative Cloud desktop app (Apps > the app's menu > Uninstall); removing the Creative Cloud app itself needs Adobe's separate Creative Cloud Uninstaller.
  3. Remove the folders Adobe Premiere Pro left behind, listed in the table below.
  4. Empty the Trash to free up the space.

Locations are the standard macOS folders Adobe Premiere Pro uses; some appear only after you use the matching feature.

What Adobe Premiere Pro leaves behind

Specific to Adobe Premiere Pro

Dragging the app to the Trash does not delete user documents or system folders. It leaves behind license data, background helpers like Core Sync, and a shared media cache that can reach 5 GB – 200 GB. Many of these components are shared with other Adobe software and should remain if you still use those applications.

Background items
Creative Cloud installs background services such as Adobe Desktop Service, Core Sync and the Creative Cloud launch agents, which stay until Creative Cloud itself is removed.
License
The subscription is tied to your Adobe ID; signing out of Creative Cloud frees the activation for another computer.
Account and sync
Premiere Pro runs on an Adobe ID subscription; projects stay local unless you use Team Projects or Creative Cloud storage.

Preparing to uninstall Adobe Premiere Pro

Before removal, manually back up your project files and auto-save folders since they are stored locally. You should also manage the media cache internally to reclaim space. If you intend to move your subscription to another Mac, sign out of the Creative Cloud account to free the activation.

Frequently asked questions

Not all of them. Folders marked “Back up first: your data” hold your own Adobe Premiere Pro data: back them up before removing them. Items marked “Only if no other app uses it” are also used by other apps from the same company; keep them while any of those apps is installed. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower.
Why are some Adobe folders still there after I deleted the app?
Many folders hold licensing and background services shared across multiple Adobe apps and persist until the Creative Cloud app is removed using its own uninstaller.
Will my projects be deleted during the uninstallation process?
No, because projects and rendered preview files are kept in your project folders, separate from the application and its media cache.
