How to Completely Uninstall Affinity Designer on Mac

To uninstall Affinity Designer, quit the app and drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash. Since the separate version is no longer sold and replaced by a unified free app in 2025, you can remove the standalone software while keeping your documents.

What Affinity Designer leaves behind

Specific to Affinity Designer

Dragging the app to the Trash does not remove its associated data folders or your personal documents. Depending on whether you have the Mac App Store or direct version, settings, resources, and autosaves remain in either a Containers or Application Support folder. These stored items typically occupy 500 MB – 10 GB and persist until you manually delete them via the hidden ~/Library folder.

Current status
Affinity Designer 2 is no longer sold; in 2025 Canva replaced the separate Affinity apps with one free Affinity app that opens existing documents.
Account and sync
The Mac App Store version is tied to your Apple Account; the version bought directly is registered to an Affinity (Serif) account.

Preparing to remove Affinity Designer

Before removal, ensure all work is finalized because the app must be closed to delete its files. You should verify your autosave data for any missing work. Because different versions store settings in different locations, identify which folder corresponds to your registration method before cleaning up remaining residues.
