To uninstall Affinity Publisher, quit the app and drag it to the Trash. Since 2025, Canva replaced separate apps with one free version that opens existing documents, but manual removal of the original software remains necessary for full cleanup.

What Affinity Publisher leaves behind

Specific to Affinity Publisher

Dragging the app to the Trash does not remove associated data folders, which typically occupy 500 MB – 10 GB. Depending on whether you bought it via the Mac App Store or directly, settings and autosaves remain in either a Containers folder or Application Support. Your personal documents are also preserved because they are saved wherever you chose. These items stay on your disk until you manually navigate to the hidden ~/Library folder to remove them.

Current status
Affinity Publisher 2 is no longer sold; in 2025 Canva replaced the separate Affinity apps with one free Affinity app that opens existing documents.
Account and sync
The Mac App Store version is tied to your Apple Account; the version bought directly is registered to an Affinity (Serif) account.

Preparing to remove Affinity Publisher

Before deleting the application, ensure all active work is secured. Because removing the app does not automatically clear your custom configurations, you must manually handle assets you wish to keep. Once the app is closed, you can proceed with the removal. Remember that items in the Trash can be restored until it is emptied.
