How to Completely Uninstall DataGrip on Mac
To remove DataGrip, either uninstall it via the JetBrains Toolbox if you used that tool, or drag the app to the Trash. Deleting the application binary alone does not remove configuration files, logs, or user projects.
Remove DataGrip and everything it leaves behind
DataGrip data usually takes 500 MB – 10 GB on a Mac. The free scan shows the exact size on your Mac before you change anything.

DataGrip has its own uninstaller
- Quit the app completely (⌘+Q in the menu bar).
- If installed through JetBrains Toolbox, uninstall it there; otherwise drag the app to the Trash and delete only the DataGrip version folders in Caches, Application Support and Logs, since other JetBrains IDEs share those parents.
- Remove the folders DataGrip left behind, listed in the table below.
- Empty the Trash to free up the space.

Locations are the standard macOS folders DataGrip uses; some appear only after you use the matching feature.
What DataGrip leaves behind
Specific to DataGrip
Dragging the app to the Trash leaves behind versioned folders in Application Support, Caches, and Logs, as well as preference plists and saved window states. Because several developer IDEs share parent directories, you must manually delete only the folders named after the app. These leftover files, including query consoles and data source definitions, typically occupy 500 MB – 10 GB.
- Background items
- JetBrains Toolbox, if used, keeps its own app and settings under ~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/Toolbox.
- License
- Commercial use needs a subscription tied to a JetBrains Account; after a year of an annual subscription a perpetual fallback license may apply.
- Account and sync
- Paid JetBrains IDEs are activated with a JetBrains Account; settings can also be synced to that account with Backup and Sync.
Preparing to uninstall DataGrip
Before removal, ensure all projects are stored outside the app folders. You should export your settings or enable Backup and Sync to your account. Since licenses follow your JetBrains Account, log out within the app if another person will use the Mac.
