To remove the EA App, drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash. However, this action alone does not remove all associated gaming data and system files.

What the EA App leaves behind

Specific to EA App

Dragging the app to the Trash preserves cached download data, settings, and license information. It also leaves your personal game saves and mods intact within your Documents folder. Because it replaced Origin, some systems may still contain legacy Origin folders alongside current app data. These remaining files typically occupy between 1 GB – 50 GB.

Account and sync
Games are licensed to your EA account; progress for online games is stored by EA.

Preparing to remove the EA App

Since games are licensed to your account and online progress is stored by EA, you will not lose access to your library. You should manually handle local content and processes before deletion. Removing the application executable does not automatically trigger the removal of separate data containers or user documents.

Frequently asked questions

Not all of them. Folders marked “Back up first: your data” hold your own EA App data: back them up before removing them. Items marked “Yes, once the app is gone” only matter while EA App is installed, so remove them after the app.
Will my game saves be deleted if I empty the Trash?
No, because saves and screenshots are stored in a separate folder in Documents that remains after the app is removed.
Why are there still Origin folders on my Mac after uninstalling?
The app replaced Origin, so leftovers from the previous software may remain independently of the new installation.
