What Inkscape leaves behind

Specific to Inkscape

Dragging the app to the Trash does not delete your preference folders or personal documents. Depending on the version used, configurations are stored in either the Application Support/Inkscape or Application Support/org.inkscape.Inkscape directory. These folders, containing extensions and templates, occupy between 200 MB – 2 GB. You must manually navigate to the hidden Library folder using Finder > Go > Go to Folder to remove them.

Preparing to remove Inkscape

Before deletion, ensure all active work is preserved since the app cannot access unsaved changes once removed. Your drawings are standard SVG files saved in locations of your choice. Because the removal of the app does not affect these files, you only need to organize them for future use. Back up any customized environment settings found in the support directories.
