Clear Adobe Acrobat Cache on Mac

Clearing the Adobe Acrobat cache frees space and often fixes slowness or odd behaviour, and it keeps the app, your documents and your subscription. Use the app's own clear-cache option if it has one, since that targets the cache alone.

Adobe Acrobat cache folders you can clear

Adobe Acrobat has no separate cache folder. Its folders hold settings and your own data, so there is nothing to clear safely by hand.

What the Adobe Acrobat cache holds and when clearing helps

Specific to Adobe Acrobat

The cache folder in your user Library holds Adobe Acrobat settings, cached data and recent files, and it can take 200 MB – 5 GB. Clearing it helps when the app is slow to open files, shows outdated previews, lists recent files that no longer exist, or misbehaves after an update. Your own documents are not stored there. Clearing the whole folder by hand would also remove your settings and recent-file list, so prefer the in-app option when it exists.

What changes after you clear the Adobe Acrobat cache

The app rebuilds its cache as you work, so the first start afterwards is slower than usual, and speed should return to normal after that. If you cleared the whole folder, recent files and settings start fresh. You may be asked to sign in again with the Adobe ID tied to your subscription. Files stored in Adobe Document Cloud are not removed.

Frequently asked questions

Yes.
Will clearing the cache sign me out?
You may be asked to sign in again with your Adobe ID. Your subscription stays tied to that ID, and signing out is what frees the activation for another computer.
Will my cloud files disappear after clearing the cache?
No. Files stored in Adobe Document Cloud are not removed when you clear the cache, and they remain available after the app rebuilds it.
