How to Completely Uninstall Affinity Photo on Mac

To uninstall Affinity Photo, quit the app and drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash. Since 2025, Canva replaced separate versions with one free app that opens existing documents. Dragging the icon alone does not remove all associated data.

Data left by Affinity Photo

Specific to Affinity Photo

Removing the application leaves behind settings, resources, caches, and autosaves. Depending on how it was acquired, this data resides in either a Containers folder or Application Support. These files occupy between 500 MB – 10 GB and remain on your disk until deleted manually via the hidden Library folder.

Current status
Affinity Photo 2 is no longer sold; in 2025 Canva replaced the separate Affinity apps with one free Affinity app that opens existing documents.
Account and sync
The Mac App Store version is tied to your Apple Account; the version bought directly is registered to an Affinity (Serif) account.

Preparing Affinity Photo for removal

Ensure all work is finalized because the app must be closed before deleting system files. Your personal documents are stored wherever you chose and are not affected by removing the software. You should verify your registration type, as licenses are linked to either an Apple Account or an Affinity account.
