To remove the app, drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash. However, this action alone does not delete the associated settings or the local database.

What Evernote leaves behind

Specific to Evernote

Dragging the app to the Trash preserves your preferences and the local mirror of your account. This includes the note database and attachment cache, which typically occupy 1 GB – 20 GB. These files remain in the hidden Library folder to allow faster synchronization if you ever return.

License
Evernote paid plans are subscriptions tied to your Evernote account and are not cancelled by deleting the app.
Account and sync
Notes are stored in your Evernote account; the Mac keeps a local copy for speed and offline use.

Preparing to uninstall Evernote

Since notes exist in your account rather than as local files, ensure all changes are uploaded before removal. You should also address your subscription independently. Deleting the software does not cancel paid plans tied to your account.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower. Folders marked “Yes, settings reset” hold settings, which return to their defaults. Items marked “Yes, once the app is gone” only matter while Evernote is installed, so remove them after the app.
Will deleting the app cancel my paid subscription?
No, paid plans are tied to your account and must be cancelled separately.
How do I find the remaining data folders?
Use Finder > Go > Go to Folder and enter ~/Library/Application Support/Evernote.
