How to Completely Uninstall Fortnite on Mac

To remove Fortnite completely, you must manually delete its associated data folders since the native macOS version can no longer be played. Dragging the application icon to the Trash alone does not erase all files.

What Fortnite leaves behind

Specific to Fortnite

Simply moving the app to the Trash ignores game files, settings, and logs stored elsewhere. These leftovers include directories in the Shared folder and the hidden Library, which can occupy 2 GB – 50 GB of space. Because these components reside outside the main application bundle, they remain on your disk until removed separately.

Current status
Epic stopped updating the native macOS version of Fortnite after its dispute with Apple, so the Mac version can no longer be played.
Account and sync
Your skins, V-Bucks and progress belong to your Epic Games account, not the Mac.

Preparing to uninstall Fortnite

Before deletion, ensure you have access to your account to verify your progress. You should copy any personal recordings found in the Saved folder to another location. To properly trigger the removal of primary game files, use the built-in tool within the Epic Games Launcher library rather than the Trash.

Frequently asked questions

Not all of them. Folders marked “Back up first: your data” hold your own Fortnite data: back them up before removing them. Items marked “Yes, once the app is gone” only matter while Fortnite is installed, so remove them after the app.
Will I lose my skins and V-Bucks if I delete everything?
No, because your progress and currency belong to your Epic Games account, not the Mac.
How do I find the hidden Library folder to delete remnants?
Use Finder > Go > Go to Folder and enter ~/Library to access it.
