Residual files left by Krita

Specific to Krita

Dragging the app to the Trash leaves behind support folders containing your brushes, resource bundles, workspaces, and session data. These items occupy between 500 MB – 10 GB and remain on your disk until you remove them manually via the hidden ~/Library folder. Your saved documents also persist independently since they are stored wherever you chose to save them.

Preparing to uninstall Krita

Before removal, ensure all work is finalized within the app. Because custom resources like brush presets are kept together in one location, you must export them to avoid losing your configurations. Checking for unsaved canvas fragments ensures no progress is lost during the process.
