What NordVPN leaves behind

Specific to NordVPN

Dragging the app to the Trash leaves behind a VPN configuration and network extension registered in macOS. It also retains a data folder located at ~/Library/Application Support/NordVPN containing logs, cache, and settings, occupying between 100 MB – 1 GB. These components remain on your disk until deleted manually via the hidden Library folder.

Background items
The app adds a VPN configuration and network extension to macOS that stay registered until the app is removed.
Account and sync
Your subscription belongs to your Nord Account, so removing the app does not cancel it.

Preparing to remove NordVPN

Before deletion, ensure you are disconnected and logged out of the software. Since different versions install their own profiles, check System Settings > VPN to see if entries persist after removal. Remember that the application resides separately from your account, meaning the subscription stays active regardless of the local installation status.
