Clear 1Password Cache on Mac
Clear the 1Password cache when the app shows outdated items, reports sync errors, or its data has grown far larger than your vaults need. Your vaults stay in your 1Password account, so the local copy on this Mac can be rebuilt. Try the app's own option first.
Clear the 1Password cache without guessing
1Password data usually takes 200 MB – 2 GB on a Mac. The free scan shows the exact size on your Mac before you change anything.

1Password cache folders you can clear
1Password has no separate cache folder. Its folders hold settings and your own data, so there is nothing to clear safely by hand.
What the 1Password cache holds
Specific to 1Password
The encrypted copy of your synced vaults sits in the app's shared Group Container, not in Application Support. Typical data for the app takes 200 MB – 2 GB on a Mac. Clearing helps when items look out of date, sync fails, or the container has grown much larger than your vaults justify.
What happens after you clear the 1Password cache
The app rebuilds its local copy from your account when it syncs, so your items return once syncing finishes. You may be asked to sign in again. Your subscription stays with your account, not this Mac. Until the app is running again, the browser extension asks for your account password instead of using Touch ID.
