What the Raycast cache holds

The cache folder holds extension and icon cache, which the app rebuilds on its own. Network cookies used by the app sit in a separate storage folder, and the settings file is also rebuilt automatically. Installed Store extensions and the encrypted local database, which holds snippets, clipboard history, AI chats and extension data, are not cache. If space runs low because of many extensions or a long clipboard history, clearing the cache will not fix it.

What happens after you clear the Raycast cache

The next launch is slower while the app rebuilds its icon and extension cache, then speed returns to normal. Your snippets, quicklinks, clipboard history and AI chats are in the encrypted local database, which clearing the cache does not touch. Local use does not require an account, so you are not normally asked to sign in again. Cloud Sync and AI features depend on your account, so have your login details ready in case the app asks.
