What Grammarly leaves behind

Specific to Grammarly

Dragging the app to the Trash preserves local app data, caches, and settings folders totaling 200 MB – 2 GB. These remain in the hidden ~/Library folder because they are designed to be rebuilt automatically if you return. Since the app uses Accessibility access to read text in other programs, these system permissions also persist after the binary is gone.

Background items
Browser extensions are installed separately and are not removed together with the desktop app.
License
Grammarly has a free tier; Premium is a subscription tied to your Grammarly account.
Account and sync
Your personal dictionary, style settings and documents in the Grammarly editor are stored in your Grammarly account.

Preparing to uninstall Grammarly

Your personal dictionary, style settings, and documents are stored in your account rather than locally, making them safe during removal. Because subscriptions are tied to your account, deleting the software does not cancel a Premium plan. You should manually revoke system permissions to ensure all links to the app are severed.
