Clear Insomnia Cache on Mac

Clearing the cache removes only three rebuildable folders, which helps when the app feels sluggish or shows out-of-date content. Your local projects, request history and settings stay where they are.

Insomnia cache folders you can clear

These folders are rebuilt automatically, so removing them does not touch your own files.

Locations are the standard macOS folders Insomnia uses; some appear only after you use the matching feature.

What the Insomnia cache holds and when clearing it helps

Specific to Insomnia

The cache consists of three folders inside the app's support folder: Cache holds web content, Code Cache holds compiled JavaScript, and GPUCache holds graphics shader data. All three are rebuilt automatically as the app runs. Clearing them can help if the app is slow, displays garbled or stale content, or the support folder is using a lot of space, where its typical data size is 100 MB – 2 GB. The rest of that folder, which holds your local vault data, request history and plugins, is not part of the cache and is not touched.

What happens after you clear the Insomnia cache

The first launch afterwards will be slower, because the app rebuilds its web content, compiled code and graphics caches while it starts. After that, performance should return to normal, and the folders will grow again as you work. Local projects are kept in the support folder outside the cache, so clearing these three folders does not remove them. Projects stored in cloud sync or a Git repository do not depend on this folder at all. If you are unsure, keep the moved folders in the Trash until you confirm the app works properly.
