Clear TablePlus Cache on Mac

To clear the TablePlus cache, quit the app and move only its cache folder to the Trash, or use a clear-cache option in the app if it has one. Your connections, query history, and settings stay in place, and the cache rebuilds on its own the next time you open the app.

TablePlus cache folders you can clear

These folders are rebuilt automatically, so removing them does not touch your own files.

Locations are the standard macOS folders TablePlus uses; some appear only after you use the matching feature.

What the TablePlus cache holds and when clearing it helps

Specific to TablePlus

The cache folder at ~/Library/Caches/com.tinyapp.TablePlus holds temporary files that the app builds up while you work, and it is rebuilt automatically when needed. It is separate from your saved connections and query history, which live in the support folder named after the app's bundle identifier and contain your own data. Clearing the cache is worth trying when it has grown large and you need disk space, or when the app behaves oddly and a restart does not fix it. Its data typically runs 100 MB – 2 GB, so a large cache is a reasonable place to start.

What happens after you clear the TablePlus cache

The first time you open the app after clearing, it rebuilds the cache, so that first launch can take a little longer than usual. Your saved connections, query history, and preferences remain where they were. Connection passwords are kept in the Keychain, separate from the cache, so clearing it does not touch them. If the odd behaviour continues after the rebuild, the cache was probably not the cause.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower.
Do I need to quit the app before clearing the cache?
Yes. Quit it first so it is not writing to the cache while you remove the folder, then reopen it afterwards.
Why is the app slower the first time I open it after clearing?
It rebuilds the cache from scratch, which takes a little extra time. Speed should return to normal once the rebuild finishes.
