What Hyper leaves behind

Specific to Hyper

Dragging the app to the Trash does not delete your personal configuration, plugins, or preference files. These remain in your Library and home folder to preserve your setup. Only manually removing these directories will fully clear the associated developer tools data.

License
Hyper is free and open source.

Preparing to remove Hyper

Because the app is configured via a JavaScript file and npm-based plugins, you should secure your settings first. Save the .hyper.js file if you wish to reuse your environment later. You can access hidden folders using Finder > Go > Go to Folder.

Frequently asked questions

Not all of them. Folders marked “Back up first: your data” hold your own Hyper data: back them up before removing them. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower. Folders marked “Yes, settings reset” hold settings, which return to their defaults. Items marked “Yes, once the app is gone” only matter while Hyper is installed, so remove them after the app.
Where is my configuration stored?
It is located in a .hyper.js file within your home folder or Application Support/Hyper.
Will emptying the Trash remove my plugin folder?
No, the ~/.hyper_plugins folder stays on your system until deleted separately.
