What Tower leaves behind

Specific to Tower

Dragging the app to the Trash preserves your repository bookmarks, service accounts, and preferences. These remain in the system library along with cached data and saved window states. Only manually removing these folders clears all traces from your Mac.

License
Tower is sold as a subscription tied to a Tower account.
Account and sync
Tower is activated with a Tower account; Git hosting accounts are added separately.

Preparing to remove Tower

Your actual repositories are stored in their own separate folders and are not touched during this process. Because the license is tied to an account, you should manage your activation status before deletion. Ensure all necessary work is synced to your remote servers first.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower. Folders marked “Yes, settings reset” hold settings, which return to their defaults. Items marked “Yes, once the app is gone” only matter while Tower is installed, so remove them after the app.
Will my git repositories be deleted?
No, the app only stores bookmarks to them; your repositories stay in their original folders.
How do I find the hidden library folders?
Use Finder > Go > Go to Folder and enter the path provided in the table.
