Manual cleanup steps

  1. Quit the app completely (⌘+Q in the menu bar).
  2. Move Warp from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  3. Remove the folders Warp left behind, listed in the table below.
  4. Empty the Trash to free up the space.

4 locations. Tick each one as you remove it; back up anything marked as your data first.

Locations are the standard macOS folders Warp uses; some appear only after you use the matching feature.

What Warp leaves behind

Specific to Warp

Dragging the application to the Trash preserves your command history, blocks, and local data. It also keeps custom themes and launch configurations stored in ~/.warp. These items, along with preferences and logs, occupy between 200 MB – 2 GB of space. You must remove these directories manually via the hidden Library folder to complete the process.

License
Warp is free to use; AI features and team plans are paid subscriptions tied to the Warp account.
Account and sync
Warp can be used with a Warp account; Warp Drive items and team content are tied to that account.

Preparing to uninstall Warp

Before removal, ensure all necessary notebooks and workflows are synced to your account or exported. Since custom themes are plain files, copy them to another location if you wish to keep them. Finally, manage your subscription status since paid plans are tied to your account rather than the software installation.

Frequently asked questions

Not all of them. Folders marked “Back up first: your data” hold your own Warp data: back them up before removing them. Folders marked “Yes, rebuilt automatically” are rebuilt automatically; removing them only makes the next start slower. Folders marked “Yes, settings reset” hold settings, which return to their defaults.
Where are my hand-made themes stored?
They are saved as plain files within the .warp directory in your home folder.
Will deleting the app cancel my paid plan?
No, subscriptions are tied to your account and must be cancelled separately.
